We got The Story Travelers Bible* last month from Tyndale in exchange for a review here, and I have to say, we are really enjoying it! Actually, this Bible has now supplanted the previous children’s Bible that we were reading with our kids in the morning! My 5-year-old is really into it and my 3-year-old is able to follow along and look at the pictures as well.
It’s part Magic Schoolbus and part Superbook. I love that it walks kids through the whole of the Bible, but told in story form. So it reads more like an actual story than an account of history. It helps young children to visualize and understand what actually happened.
I also really like that it has 3 kids who travel back in time in a bus to watch the stories unfold before them (and add commentary). This helps make the stories come alive for our kids.
The book includes facts and historical information about the actual places in which the stories take place, as well as the Bible references from which the stories are taken. There are occasional memory verses to that you can go over with your kids as well if you choose.
I would recommend this Bible for children who are at the elementary school age, and I think my son would too!
