Here’s a list of ways to read through the Bible, everyday or five days a week or chronologically or go at your own pace. I’m linking you to the websites that have these ways to download for free because why reinvent the wheel? There will either be a download button or just right click the images they provide and save them (they want you to do that!)
One Year Bible Reading Plan
Read the Bible everyday with this plan that Absolute Faith Church provides. It gives you a New and Old Testament portion and a Psalm or Proverb everyday.
If you don’t think you can do everyday, this is a 5-day-a-week plan which I like because you have two days off every week. In case you miss a day or two, you won’t be behind.
If you want to read through in a year but don’t want to skip around, this one by Sweet Blessings just goes book by book. She also has great links to online plans you can do on your phone or computer (YouVersion, Bible Gateway, Bible Study Tools), so be sure to check her out!
If you want to go a little slower, this is a creative “Mustard Seed” plan by OfWeeks where you read the shortest books of the Bible first, so you feel a sense of accomplishment! They also have a 2-year Bible reading plan if that suits you.
If you’re the opposite and want to power through the Bible, here’s a plan from the Christian Standard Bible that will help you complete that in 90 days. When I was a missionary in East Asia, this was something that we did as a team multiple times. It’s really interesting to get the full picture before you forget the other bits. I’m not sure if I could do it now though!
Chronological Bible Reading Plan
This one from Mostly Sensible is nice because it breaks it down by chapters and books as to how they think the Bible actually played out in time. The second page is actually where you start, in Genesis, you know “In the beginning…”
Read at Your Own Pace
You don’t need a chart for this. Just open your Bible, read a little bit and put a bookmark in when you are done! Go at your own pace!
Bibles with Plans
I actually use the One Year Bible, so I don’t use a chart at all! LOL! It’s all broken down for you, so you just open up to the date and read the Old, New, Psalm, and Proverb. There are lots of translations available. I use the New Living currently because it’s easy to understand, but the NIV is probably most wide-read.
Here’s the Chronological version of the One Year Bible if you’d like to read it that way. I did that one year and it was an interesting change.
If you are looking for a study Bible that includes commentary and helpful discussions on what some of the texts mean and how they can apply to your life, this Life Application Study Bible is the best-seller.
I’m partial to this study Bible because it’s heart is to know God and make him known and follows a discipleship program that helped to change my life. The Christian Growth Study Bible includes topics like: Father heart of God, Worship, Stewardship, Intercession, and more.
So I hope that helps you with reading your Bible. Remember, the point is to connect with God not just check an item off your list. He wants to spend time with you more than you want it!
